There have been several letters. Only recently decided to post here.

date:Nov 28, 2023, 4:11 PMsubject:Re: medicare advantage, INT 1099 & City Worker Retirees
good day:
Just to reiterate, Municipal Retirees are demanding equitable choices for their Health Care. The City of New York promised us traditional medicare and the appeals to legal decisions in the ongoing case show a lack of will to honor that promise. Please support the Bill
City Council person Barron's 1099 INT city council bill addresses these concerns as does the Bill in the U.S. Congress put forth by Rep Ritchie Torres (BY -15 NY- bronx) and co-sponsored by Rep Nicole Malliotakis (NY- 11 republican from S.I.).
This is known as the Right to Medicare act (N.R. 5518). I ask that you please support 1099- INT and encourage others in the Council to do the same.
The Link to the bill in the U.S. Congress is below.
NYC Municipal Retirees, are permitted to live outside the City of NY, and many do (for example in Nevada, upstate NY State and Pennsylvania, and even Florida). We did serve the City of NYC, in some cases for decades, and did so without any expectation of accumulating wealth during this time, but we were promised a modicum of security, and yes, that refers to healthcare, in his case, Traditional Medicare.
Legendary consumer advocate Ralph Nader sounded the alarm on Medicare Advantage back in 2018, and has done so consistently since then. The political class largely ignored his concerns. That might not be surprise, but is it right?
Thank you and Happy Holidays . xxxxxxxxxxxxx
